Gardiner Centre & Embark present: Art of Professional Presence - AM Session:

When communicating with a prospective employer, you convey a distinctive presence that can shape the employer's perception of your professional suitability as a candidate. This is called your professional presence - and it can either showcase your skills or minimize them. This session will provide insights and best practices to help you showcase your best professional presence. Participants will practice essential presentation skills and master delivering a compelling 'pitch' to potential employers.

Date: Wednesday, 12 March, 2025
Time: 9 AM - 12:30 PM - Students are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to the session.

At the end of this workshop, you will be able to: 

  • Confidently pitch your education, skills, and career goals and practice delivering this in front of others
  • Be able to identify and articulate your career story, strengths, and things you are passionate about.
  • Discuss the foundations of professionalism and cultural competency (Canadian work culture).
  • Gain competency in attending networking events and be able to keep a conversation going with a new contact.
  • Be able to follow up after networking events to continue to connect with a new contact.

Important Information: 

  • Registration is limited to 15 students per workshop. 
  • Registration closes on 7 March, 2025 at 3PM. After this deadline, please email embark@mun.ca to see if there any spots remaining and you can be manually registered. 
  • While this workshop is free for attending business students, the Faculty of Business Administration covers the associated costs for each attendee. If you are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible by emailing embark@mun.ca, so that we can offer the seat to another student.
  • Registrants will be contacted by email to confirm their attendance closer to the date of the event. Failure to confirm by the deadline may result in your being removed from the registration list. 

Skills gained: Consistent with our undergraduate and graduate learning goals, students will have the opportunity to develop their communication skills, social and business acumen and increase their confidence in networking.
