All students and graduates are welcome to attend this event on campus to network, learn about careers in the industry and pitch their skills and experiences to industry professionals from various companies that hire for science/environment/ sustainability (and many other) backgrounds. During the event, groups of students and grads are matched up with participating industry professionals at tables. The industry professionals will move to another table approximately every seven minutes until everyone has been acquainted. Networking events provide an opportunity to meet new people, make connections, and build relationships that can lead to job opportunities!
Nourishment/ refreshments will be provided following the speed networking portion of the event.

Andrew is the Regional Geotechnical Leader for Hatch Ltd. in Atlantic Canada and has been providing engineering, geological, and environmental consulting services for hydroelectric, transportation, ports and terminals, and mining developments throughout Canada and internationally for over twenty-three (23) years. Andrew is a Professional Geoscientist, a nationally certified Environmental Professional, and is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control. Andrew holds a B.Sc. Degree in Earth Sciences and Biology from Memorial University and a Master of Engineering Degree in Geotechnics from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.

5) Sustainability and Climate Action Office
Nikhilesh Paliath, Waste Diversion Coordinator
About the Role:
The Sustainability and Climate Action Office (SCAO) provides strategic oversight for the university's commitment to sustainability and climate action across a number of major strategic directives. The Waste Diversion Coordinator is responsible to monitor, analyze and provide recommendations to improve management of different waste streams on campuses of Memorial University to ensure Memorial is on track to achieve that zero-waste directive. For each waste management stream the Waste Diversion Coordinator collects relevant data of existing waste management processes, consults leads of applicable operational units, designs/executes pilot projects to identify inefficiencies and increase diversion potential, collect and monitor data, and prepare recommendations.
Short Bio:
Nikhilesh Paliath has been working on waste management projects for the last 7 years with a total work experience of over a decade. He did his undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering and completed Master of Applied Science from Memorial University majoring in Environmental Systems Engineering and Management. He has held several voluntary positions in environmental policy advocacy campaigns and Not-for-Profit organizations. He's an advocate for environmental, justice and gender justice. He mentors and guides students who are passionate about their career in Environmental services whenever he can.

About Opportunities at Sustainability and Climate Action Office:
Sustainability and Climate Action Office analyses various waste streams on the campus and provides Graduate Students with a background in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering / Management, Public Policy to work on focused short term projects. Results from these short term projects would be plugged into initiatives undertaken by the office. These projects would provide learning opportunity for students to understand the intricacies of data collection, analysis, communication and change management at an institutional level.

Sarah Penney-Belbin-Marine Biologist/Regional Operations Manager
I am a marine biologist and the Regional Operations Manager for LGL Limited's Newfoundland office. I'm from Newfoundland and started my undergraduate degree at the Grenfell campus in Corner Brook and finished at MUN. I then completed my Master's degree at Dalhousie and have been working with LGL ever since (14+ years). LGL is an environmental consulting company that has given me the opportunity to branch out into many different fields, ranging from fisheries, ecology, and species at risk to GIS mapping, marine mammals, seabirds, socio-economics, and everything in between. We are free to work with any organization, such as government (federal/provincial), non-government organizations, large, international companies (e.g., oil and gas), and smaller enterprises (e.g., mining, wind energy, airports, local businesses). We go where the science takes us uphold the highest degree of integrity and honesty, along with respect and cooperation with Indigenous groups and persons of all backgrounds and preferences.
