The Professional Skills Development Program is a free, 6-week program that provides international students with the skills and knowledge needed to prepare for professional employment in Canada. After completing this program, students can expect to develop core competencies in professionalism, diversity awareness, cultural sensitivity and communications.

The program also provides selected international student participants an employment opportunity to work with local companies to gain practical work experience, while applying the knowledge and tools they have learned through the completion of the PSDP modules.

Date & Time: Mondays and Wednesdays from 1pm to 2pm (unless otherwise specified - see Course Syllabus/Outline)
**There are 2 iterations (ie. sections) of the event. The material for both sessions are the same. Students only need attend 1 session per week and should register for the given date/time of the session they intend on attending.** 
Location:
Mondays Sessions: the Landing (UC-3015), 3rd floor of University Centre.
Wednesday Sessions: Career Development Office Pods (UC-4002), 4th floor of University Centre
Facilitator: International Student Career Advisor
Eligibility: You must be a current international student taking courses in order to participate in this program. If you have previously participated in a PSDP Internship (or Enhancement) and have not completed PSDP before, it is mandatory for you to complete this course. If you completed a PSDP Internship over the summer but are no longer a student at the moment, please connect with the facilitator for next steps. 

This event will cover the following topics: 
Week 1 (September 19 & 20) : Introduction and Skills Identification (No PSDP on 21st on account of Career Fair)
Week 2 (September 26 & 28): Resume and Cover Letter Writing
Week 3 (October 3 & 5): Career Exploration 
Week 4 (October 17 & 19): Job Search, Networking and LinkedIn 
Week 5 (October 24 & 26): Interview Skills
Week 6 (October 31 & November 2): Canadian Workplace Etiquette.
